St John Ambulance Western Australia’s Patient Transfer Service (PTS) operates non-emergency patient transport with an emphasis on customer care and service in both metropolitan and regional areas of the State. PTS responds to both pre-booked and on demand calls, working in partnership with local hospitals, medical centres, care facilities and the general public.
St John introduced a fleet of patient transfer vehicles (PTVs) in 1994 to ensure ambulances were available for emergency cases.
Today, there are 33 PTVs located strategically across the metropolitan area and in regional centres.
A team of dedicated transport service coordinators works seven days a week to ensure St John provides its customers and patients with a reliable and timely service, and our on road staff undergo extensive training so that they are capable of providing medical assistance should the need arise.
